Muscle works for Demi Moore. G.I. Jane's chart-topping debut is Moore's best showing since Disclosure hit stores in June 1995. According to VidTrac, Jane earned $5.7 million, more than twice the first-week take of Moore's 1996 G-string saga, Striptease. Muscle didn't work as well as it might have for the animated Hercules, which led the sales chart with 58 copies per store. But even The Hunchback of Notre Dame moved 86 copies per store its first week. Then again, in that Disney adventure Demi voiced the gypsy Esmeralda, another strong and strong-willed woman.
