jiggy jig-eeadj. 1. Super-stylish, well dressed, looking like a ''player.'' Indicative of big bucks and/or high status. [Usage: ''Will Smith sure looked jiggy in his Men in Black suit.''] Etymology: Originally street lingo, it seems to have made its first recorded appearance on rapper Jay-Z's album Reasonable Doubt (1996). From there, the term became, well, jiggy. Smith's ''Gettin' Jiggy Wit It'' is No. 3 on Billboard's Hot 100, while rapper the Lox has a Top 40 hit with ''If You Think I'm Jiggy.'' The word recently popped up on Seinfeld when party animal Jerry proclaimed that he ''was ready to get jiggy with it.'' Ricki Lake even devoted a show to a ''My Dad and I Are Jiggy'' pageant and entered the word into her ''Ricktionary'' of hip phrases. But don't feel bad if you've never heard it: When Lake asked two supposedly in-the-know New Yorkers to define jiggy, they responded, ''an Irish dance'' and ''I had it the other night for dessert.''
