Left of the Middle (1998)

EW's GRADE
C+

Details Lead Performance: Natalie Imbruglia

With her single ''Torn'' riding high on the U.K. charts, this 23-year-old London-based looker arrives in America with a set of forgettable, radio-friendly tunes that travels a familiar sonic landscape: from Rickie Lee-ville to Alanis-land. A few years ago Left of the Middle (RCA)'s dozen glossy songs might have seemed (somewhat) original, but even their bouncy beats and gorgeous guitars can't disguise the absence of fresh or honestly affecting material. C+
