ROBBIE ROBERTSON Contact From the Underworld of Redboy (Capitol) Though The Band established Robertson as a vividly insightful storyteller, little of that eloquence is evident on this heavy-handed paean to Native American struggle. The artist's oppressive use of overripe synths and trendy electro beats fails to disguise the slightness of the songs or strained characterlessness of his vocals, and the chilly, claustrophobic result does a major disservice to the subject matter.
