GOD LIVES UNDERWATER Life in the So-Called Space Age (1500/A&M) When it comes to electronic music, vocals tend to be digital buzz killers; who wants to hear someone sing when abstraction is the whole point? God Lives Underwater create hard-wired rock that works, however, by writing bombastic yet catchy futurist manifestos, and then constructing trippy sludgescapes around them. Whether this is a Ween-like exercise in genre parody or an earnest effort is debatable, but either way, it's good weird fun. B+
