This feminist tract in designer clothing would be a whole lot more successful (it barely made a ripple in theaters last April) if Barbara Kruger-esque maxims (''In a perversion there is no freedom, only a rigid conformity to a gender stereotype'') didn't keep intruding on an otherwise titillating look at the life of a ballsy attorney.
Female Perversions would have us believe that Swinton's Eve is laboring under the yoke of societal repression when all we see is a gorgeous trial lawyer spending her days nailing white-collar criminals and her nights having hot sex with men (Clancy Brown) and women (Karen Sillas). If we've learned anything from sexual-harassment scandals Kathleen Willey's post-60 Minutes credibility problem the latest case in point it's avoid sending mixed signals. C
