Riding tall and stoic in this ''TNT Original,'' Glover looks the part as the first sergeant of a cavalry troop of former slaves. Alas, the sarge is an undeveloped character, defined solely by his sense of duty, while his all-but-anonymous men are like so many figures in a Frederic Remington painting. Sent by their white commanding officers to slaughter renegade Apaches, the soldiers are meant to be seen as noble heroes caught in a moral quandary. Instead, they come off as PC figments of the filmmakers' imaginations, consigned to a dramatic fate that's neither triumphant nor tragic. The buffalo soldiers of history deserve better than Buffalo Soldiers. C+
