On her debut, Hill emerged as the personification of small-town America, on her second album a Reba McEntire clone, and on this, her third, Cher in crinolines, replete with bluesy, bombastic arrangements. Soaring through uplifting love songs by Diane Warren, Gretchen Peters, and Sheryl Crow, Hill has never sounded more passionate or sophisticated. But she's often so far out on a stylistic limb on Faith that only her ambition sustains her. B-
