The haunting duet The Last in Love between seasoned songwriter Shear (from his album Between Us) and Grammy fave Cole resonates with the ache of unexpressed love without wallowing in it. Accompanied by a muted trumpet's sighs and the subtlest guitar and bass, it's the voices that are showcased. Cole, not instantly recognizable from her more fervent radio hits, delivers a beautifully reserved assist. A-
