There's a hungry leviathan terrorizing a seaside town, and the greedy local officials, fearing bad press, only make matters worse. Sound familar? Yep, it's yet another movie based on a Peter Benchley book — The Beast, not to be confused with ABC's upcoming Peter Benchley's Creature. For the record, this monster is a giant squid, which, of course, stays mostly off screen until the not-so-convincing climax of this video version, considerably condensed from the 1996 two-night TV movie.
