Even as the revival of Cabaret triumphs on Broadway, this special edition proves that the movie stands the test of time as well as the play, even if the cast members haven't they all look much the worse for wear in the new documentary included, Cabaret: A Legend in the Making. The picture seems to have a few more slightly blurred or frozen images than the usual DVD, probably because so much was crammed onto one disc, but only the wonks will notice. New interviews with the stars involve a lot of backpatting, which means that the most shocking revelation here is that a movie that deals in bygone raunch was rated only PG.
