From a new series of pamphlet-length journalistic essays called The Library of Contemporary Thought comes 83-page salvo Team Rodent: How Disney Devours the World, in which comic novelist and investigative reporter Hiaasen (Striptease) combines his talents to dis Disney. After opening with an overbilious screed against the company's signature blandness, the author settles down and rakes good muck. He notes, for example, that the company serves as the de facto municipal government at Disney World — thus controlling its own zoning, planning, and building codes — and wittily recounts a 1986 press junket at which 5,200 ''Fourth Estate freeloaders'' were plied with toys, booze, and barbecue. Hiaasen urges resistance to the conglomerate's hijacking of American culture, leaving it to inspired readers to build a better mousetrap. B+
