''The Magician'' -- Bill Bixby's shoulda-been hit reairs on TV Land

You X-Files fans may know it as the show a young Fox Mulder was hankering to watch when his sister was abducted. But at the time (1973-74), The Magician was thought a shoulda-been hit for its star, Bill Bixby, who'd struck gold with his two previous series, My Favorite Martian and The Courtship of Eddie's Father. Bixby played Anthony Blake, renowned prestidigitator on stage (with Bixby doing his own tricks) and crusading crime fighter off. Alas, the clever conceit didn't catch on and the ratings disappeared.
