TITANIC AND THE MAKING OF JAMES CAMERON

Details Writer: Paula Parisi; Genre: Movies

TITANIC AND THE MAKING OF JAMES CAMERON Paula Parisi (Newmarket, $24.95 hardcover, $14.95 paperback) Parisi, a film-technology specialist who has written on Titanic for The Hollywood Reporter and EW, exhaustively recounts the film's production, from Cameron's dives to the wreckage to his Oscar-night victories. While the book benefits from the author's unrivaled access to the whole crew, it's marred by both factual sloppiness and blind adulation of Cameron, who is unironically equated with Albert Einstein. And since Parisi doesn't distinguish between illuminating detail and yawn-inducing trivia (why include a page about the director taking YMCA scuba lessons at age 16?), even Titanic junkies will be hard-pressed to submerge themselves in this story.
