MONSTER MAGNET Powertrip (A&M) ''The gods told me to relax,'' proclaims Dave Wyndorf on the title track of his band's fifth album, but it sounds more like he's been working overtime to figure out ways to take MM's ultradense space metal further over the top than usual. Imagine Fun House-era Stooges on a sci-fi (or psilocybin?) kick. Wyndorf's lyrics may be absurd comic-book claptrap (''I've wasted enough of my time on the edge of forever''), but Powertrip's music is monstrously mind-bending. A-
