GIA Angelina Jolie, Mercedes Ruehl, Faye Dunaway (1998, HBO, unrated, $79.99) Can there ever be enough hot lesbian sex scenes? Apparently not, judging from this sadly affecting yet racily exploitative biopic of the '80s supermodel Gia Carangi that aired on HBO in a less steamy form last January. Jolie brings an inspired Louise Brooks-ish seductiveness to Carangi, whose heroin-fueled fall from the covers of Vogue and Cosmo led to her 1986 death at age 26 of AIDS. The script by Jay McInerney and director Michael Cristofer gets in some zingers, but the extended T&A scenes, shot music-video style, use and abuse the memory of Gia just as the fashion industry did her in life.
