''Robin Williams' greatest attribute isn't that he's just funny or just creative. It's that he's an intellectual. He couldn't do all those characters he does or dart around in his imagination if he didn't have the mental alacrity he has. That's why he can be brilliant in comedy, drama, and whatever else he gets his mind around.'' -- SAM SHEPARD
It could be argued that Williams, 47, is more properly categorized as an entertainer -- no, make that phenomenon -- than as an actor. Yet he's earned three Oscar nominations for dramatic roles (Good Morning, Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, and The Fisher King) and won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for last year's Good Will Hunting. And few would dispute that there is greatness in his physical comedy and vocal pyrotechnics.
DON'T MISS: Good Morning, Vietnam (1987), Aladdin (1992), Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)
