Joan Osborne, Rosanne Cash, Lee Roy Parnell, Bruce Hornsby, and others, apparently; they join him here for a stylistically schizophrenic, but mostly thrilling melding of talent. When Scruggs uses guitars, Dobro, and Autoharp to accompany Emmylou Harris and Iris DeMent as they wrap their voices -- rose and bramble -- around each other on ''Wildwood Flower,'' you'll remember why God made music.
