The energy level of all involved is way, way up for this densely textured, scrupulously orchestrated reworking of themes from Miles Davis' electric- funk period of the early '70s. Years ahead of its time, his music clearly inspires guitarist Kaiser and trumpeter Smith, as it has a whole new wave of contemporary revisionists. B+
