HOW STELLA GOT HER GROOVE BACK (R) A smooth-jazz adaptation of Terry McMillian's follow-up to Waiting to Exhale that claims to star Angela Bassett as a 40-year-old foxy single mom who falls for a 20-year-old hunk while on vacation. Actually, this foamy, Second Chance at Love-type romantic fantasy stars the island of Jamaica. Whoopi Goldberg adds a whole lotta jerk pork as the heroine's best friend in a plot devoid of real conflict; the treacly soundtrack relies way too heavily on shoop-shoop-ishness to signify good lovin'. C-
