While the big story in video retail was the full-steam rush of prerelease orders for Titanic, it was sales of another transatlantic adventure, Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World, that kept the industry perking through the late-summer dog days. Though August rentals have been slack compared with those of a year ago, recent VidTrac numbers for the first six months of 1998 show that rental revenue is up a healthy 6 percent from 1997. The period's top title: Air Force One, with $55.8 million in rentals, followed by Conspiracy Theory, The Devil's Advocate, The Game, and G.I. Jane.
