Rialto (1998)

EW's GRADE
B+

Details Lead Performance: Rialto

With a flick of his delicate wrist, ex-Kinky Machine curiosity Louis Eliot has simultaneously revived the foppish Bryan Ferry dandy and the '60s-classic British pop song on the new album Rialto. With his classy new Rialto combo, the frontman croons over cheeky synth and chimey guitars with affected/heavily inflected UK cool. Naturally, women frequently mistreat him, providing great neurotic moments like the cloying ''Untouchable'' and a who's-she-with-tonight ''Monday Morning 5.19.'' Black tie optional. B+
