On this lushly orchestrated departure from her country-pop milieu, Lorrie Morgan tackles the kind of standards, show tunes, and movie themes she came to appreciate through her smooth-voiced crooner father, the late George Morgan. Although Lorrie displays some aptitude for the genre, her reading of the lyrics in Secret Love is overly melodramatic and she fails to give the material the shading and nuance that could make this brave outing more than a vanity recording. Rosemary Clooney has nothing to worry about yet. B-
