SLAM (R) Marc Levin's optimistic, activist drama about a small-time drug dealer (charismatic Saul Williams) who discovers his talent for poetry while in prison, has won a sheaf of film festival awards, and it's easy to see why: The blasts of verse are performed with such passion, you may want to break into applause. Much of the cheering goes to handsome, lanky Williams, who makes the kind of attractive, articulate convict we hope, but don't expect, sits in every prison cell, intent on turning his life around. A-
