On a Day Like Today

EW's GRADE
B

Details Lead Performance: Bryan Adams

Like Clapton and Mellencamp before him, multiplatinum Canadian crooner Bryan Adams has started searching for that perfect balance of mature grace and useful guitar grind. No fumbling around during On a Day Like Today; Adams' new restraint energizes this gently jangling material. The melodic, tambourine-urged hooks of ''Fearless'' and ''Before the Night Is Over'' delight via their understated simplicity. Time to forgive the guy for that scary Robin Hood thing. B+
