The Story of the Ghost

Details Lead Performance: Phish

There's nothing pretty about the music of Phish. Which wouldn't matter so much if they didn't work to make their ninth album their softest, quietest LP yet. Perhaps to provide a more striking contrast to their jam-driven live shows, Phish aim for more sensitive tunes, though most are as pale and homely as their singing. Phish-heads can count on the usual grooveless funk and nerdy wah-wah guitars. But there's little in The Story of the Ghost to give their bland neo-hippie rock any more consequence. C
