In 1996, neurotic filmmaker and semipro jazz musician Woody Allen packed up clarinet and cronies and embarked on an overseas tour, exporting a little Dixieland to a clutch of enraptured European cities. Oscar-winning documentarian Barbara Kopple (Harlan County, U.S.A.) offers a mostly repellent look at the Woodman. From Paris to Venice, he comes off light on humor and heavy on bile, a square kvetcher who gets seasick in a gondola. Wild Man Blues is for hardcore fans only. C+
