After the fab five became the fab four in May, EW's semi-regular Spice-o-Meter turned bland as milk (or at least as a Spice Girl ballad). But we're licking our lips again. Oddly, it was Geri Halliwell (who'll always be Ginger Spice to us), 26, who peppered the news. After a few months' gestation aswirl with rumors of possible film projects (Charlie's Angels) and stage musicals (The Life) Halliwell went from raising eyebrows to raising awareness. On Oct. 20 she was named, of all things, a U.N. goodwill ambassador. The next day, Halliwell spoke at a Manhattan press conference for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation (''The only cure we have is education,'' she urged). She followed that with a spot on Larry King Live. Then it was back to showbiz: Halliwell, who's currently featured on the cover of Allure, signed a $3 million record deal with EMI. For their part, other Spicers are turning domestic: A four-month-pregnant Scary Spice just married dancer Jimmy Gulzar, with an also-expecting Posh Spice in attendance. Meanwhile, baby-less Baby Spice appeared gasp! solo on the cover of Gear. Could there be another defection in the ranks?
