Homecourt Advantage

EW's GRADE
C+

Details Writers: Crystal McCrary, Rita Ewing; Genres: Fiction, Women's Studies

This fictional account of NBA players and their off-court shenanigans — by real-life NBA wives Rita Ewing and Crystal McCrary — is packed with tawdry, thinly veiled gossip. Featuring more men-are-dawgs subplots than Michael Jordan has product endorsements, the predictable Homecourt Advantage chronicles the lives of a half-dozen female significant others during play-off season. Mrs. Ewing should know whereof she writes, since estranged hubby Patrick reportedly canoodled with a New York Knicks dancer earlier this year. In fact, she thanks him in the acknowledgments, saying ''Without you, I'd just be an innocent bystander.'' Hell hath no fury like a trophy wife scorned. C+
