So it's not the end of the world as we know it. But R.E.M.'s Up debuted at No. 3 on first-week sales of 117,000, pretty good for a rock band these days, if a comedown from the heady times in 1994 when Monster came out of the box with 343,000. Dru Hill are on the climb, however; the group's debut album peaked at No. 23, but on the heels of a hit R&B single, their unjinxed sophomore effort came in at No. 2 with 128,000 sold. Jay-Z ruled the roost again with 174,000, managing a fifth week at No. 1, a rare feat in the usually fast-falling rap realm.
