You can hardly call The Lion King II: Simba's Pride a commercial failure, but this straight-to-tape sequel to Disney's 1994 hit -- itself the best-selling video ever -- isn't exactly the cat's meow at the cash register. It moved 71 copies per store and launched to the top of the sales chart, a debut roughly equivalent to that of Aladdin and the King of Thieves (a.k.a. Aladdin III). In other words, this latest Disney sequel merely performed like a typical Disney sequel. The Mouse Factory's next animated move? A rerelease of The Rescuers on Jan. 5.
