SPIKE JONES Let's Sing a Song of Christmas (Verve) Not nearly as inventive or loony as his take on The Nutcracker Suite (included on the Thomas Pynchon-annotated compilation Spiked!), this 1956 LP finds the ambitious novelty composer arranging Christmas classics with a reasonably straight face. You do get the occasional kazoo melody, horn chortle, and percussive sneeze, plus kiddie-drag like ''All I Want for Christmas (Is My Two Front Teeth).'' Otherwise it's choral-style holiday schmaltz long on the treacle. C
