COSTELLO & NIEVE Costello & Nieve (Warner Bros.) Just when you already had more Useless Beauty than you could throw a stick at, Elvis Costello and ivory tickler Steve Nieve revive 11 of that woefully ignored album's gems -- plus another 16 oldies -- in a live album spread over five EPs, recorded in as many cities. (The format duplicates a fall series of promo-only CDs, now boxed in a limited edition.) Covering Bacharach or the Dead or mostly just acting as his own most puckish reinterpreter, EC combines classic pop grace and late-century spite like no other contender, making this two-hour Big McManus attack the best Unplugged never to carry MTV's name.
