One Fine Day (1997)

EW's GRADE
B+

Details Lead Performance: Various Artists; Genre: Soundtracks

Without even seeing the film, you can track its let's-fight-then-fall-in-love plotline from One Fine Day, a compilation of make-out standards (Tony Bennett's ''What a Difference a Day Makes''), remakes (Keb' Mo's bluesy ''The Glory of Love''), and newly minted tunes. The Chiffons' classic ''One Fine Day'' is here, of course, but Natalie Merchant's yearning slow-dance version of the song is a romantic thrill.
