A pious, self-congratulatory history lesson from Rob Reiner in which the importance of slain black 1960s civil rights activist Medgar Evers somehow becomes secondary to the triumph of a white Mississippi assistant DA (Alec Baldwin), who successfully convicts Evers' murderer (James Woods) 31 years after the event.
