Unlike the typical hapless souls who usually find themselves involved in movie murders, at least the British Gen-Xers who analyze their way through this stylish but meandering debut from writer-director Anna Campion (whose sister, Jane, made The Portrait of a Lady) have an excuse for burying their dead friend in a shallow pile of leaves -- they've all dropped acid. Alas, therein also lies the obscured plot. What starts as an intriguing, intricately woven study of seven angst-filled filmmakers loses its shape within the final 20 minutes. While pleasurable, the flick ends up being a long strange trip to nowhere. B-
