A
A madcap gem. Christopher Guest cowrote, directed, and stars in Waiting for Guffman, an ironic celebration of American bad taste: a mock documentary that follows the hapless residents of Blaine, Mo., as they put on a musical. As Corky St. Clair, the town's token theater-bug homosexual, Guest suggests Ed Wood in the body of Harvey Fierstein.
