Like the film it accompanies, most of the music on this 14-song hodgepodge is cliched — by turns stale, irrelevant, and boring. It doesn't matter that it's served up by alt-rock luminaries (Sonic Youth, Beck, Elastica): Only the sprawling trip-hop mini-ymphony ''Berry Meditation'' (by U.N.K.L.E.) and Gene Pitney's spooky mid-'60s ''Town Without Pity'' provide solace from the sogginess on SubUrbia.
