The celebrity auction craze continues. Up for bids this week:

ITEM Line drawings by James Dean. The 32 sketches, scrawls of blue pen on white paper napkins, were done by the star while drinking coffee at Googie's, a Sunset Strip hangout in the '50s.

ON SALE March 2 in L.A. at Butterfield & Butterfield's Hollywood & Rock 'N' Roll memorabilia auction.

VALUE Estimated at $600 to $3,500 each.

ARTISTIC SIGNIFICANCE ''We can't say they're great works of art,'' says Butterfield's Michael Schwartz, ''but the appeal is that it's James Dean. It reflects his thoughts and attitudes. His [memorabilia] is quite collected.''
