By coasting on overused samples from Grandmaster Flash's hip-hop hit ''The Message'' and a bite from Matthew Wilder's new-wave curiosity ''Break My Stride,'' this producer/Svengali doesn't win points for originality on his solo debut. Leaving most of the rapping duties to cohort Mase, Puff Daddy instead serves more as cheerleader, easing Flash's social commentary into party braggadocio.
