Could it be...Satan? No, fortunately for the cast of the new Harrison Ford-Brad Pitt IRA thriller, The Devil's Own, that wicked presence stayed away from the film's March 13 premiere party at Manhattan's Four Seasons restaurant. But the memory of last year's bedeviled shoot -- which suffered frustrating delays, script hassles, and rumors of ego jousting between its leading men -- still took its time dissipating at the party. Anticipating better reviews for the movie than for the production, director Alan Pakula was busy thanking the actors for having slogged on. ''You really sweated it out, and it came through,'' he told Natascha McElhone, who plays Pitt's love interest. And though Pitt nearly abandoned the project (he told Newsweek that a potential lawsuit by Sony Pictures kept him on the set), he nevertheless showed up at the soiree with his smile restored and his new blond locks so similar to fiancee Gwyneth Paltrow's that guests felt the couple looked like twins. The crowning relief came when Pitt and Ford did some showy hugging as a sign of friendship. It was quite heavenly.
