EVERYTHING BUT THE GIRL Before Today (Atlantic) Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt complete their reinvention from tasteful-but-borderline-boring folk-jazz duo into swinging pop combo. This six-track EP consists of the title tune in its original swanky drum-and-bass-inflected form, plus remixes by various hot producers. London's Chicane turn in a bit of bossa nova techno, while the others offer finger-snapping throw-downs that fit rather than fight the song. U2 must be green with envy. A
