SPIRIT LOST Leon, Regina Taylor (1996, LIVE, R, priced for rental) Veteran actor Tim Reid, producer of this direct-to-video yarn from Black Entertainment Television Films, must have thought a film combining elements of Fatal Attraction, Ghost, and even Daughters of the Dust would leave 'em breathless at Blockbuster. Think again, Tim. Though Spirit attempts to satiate -- combining a beautiful black couple, an exotic island locale, obsession, African-American folklore, and even the requisite spirit-meets-human sex scene -- blah acting by Leon and Cynda Williams and a contrived ending prevent this gumbo from bubbling beyond a simmer. C-
