Trainspotting

Director Danny Boyle's walk on the wild side, Trainspotting, kicked up a lot of dust because people thought it glorified drug use, which is an oversimplification (although, to be fair, its opening scenes are like a Calvin Klein ad for smack). Actually, the drugs are just MTV-style window dressing on a conventional angry-young-Scotsman melodrama. This new laser edition contains a wide-screen version of the uncut, unredubbed British print, so it's often impenetrably accented. Bonuses include nine unused scenes — one of which, Boyle notes, was discarded solely because McGregor didn't look good in his underpants. B
