Director Danny Boyle's walk on the wild side, Trainspotting, kicked up a lot of dust because people thought it glorified drug use, which is an oversimplification (although, to be fair, its opening scenes are like a Calvin Klein ad for smack). Actually, the drugs are just MTV-style window dressing on a conventional angry-young-Scotsman melodrama. This new laser edition contains a wide-screen version of the uncut, unredubbed British print, so it's often impenetrably accented. Bonuses include nine unused scenes one of which, Boyle notes, was discarded solely because McGregor didn't look good in his underpants. B
