Celebrity is constantly evolving. Gelman also plays a three-round cele-bathon — first playing normally, then using only one-word clues, and finally acting out the names without words. Sound easy? "You try pantomiming 'Soren Kierkegaard,'" says Gelman.

What's the appeal? Sitcom producer Howard J. Morris (formerly of Home Improvement) puts it best. "I can think of no better outlet for all that useless knowledge we get from watching E!"

Satisfying indeed — that is, until a Tattoo crisis occurs.

Morris once played the game with a partner who had never seen Fantasy Island and instead fed Morris a tangled series of clues to get him to name the show's pint-size costar.

"Okay, the first part of his last name's an Italian chateau," Morris' partner began.

"Villa?" Morris replied.

"Yes! Then Velveeta."

"Cheese?"

"Yes! Yes!"

"Villa Cheese?" Morris struggled. "What's Villa Cheese? Omigod — it's Herve Villechaize!"

"Yessss!!"
