On the follow-up to his stellar Blue Clear Sky, George Strait totes home mostly second-tier tunes. But he's such a consummate stylist that the songs in Carrying Your Love With Me seem more charming than they are. Judging from his Conway Twitty-ish ''Today My World Slipped Away'' and, elsewhere, his subtle fusion of honky-tonk and pop, Strait is still country's top dog. B
