Sure, on TV he's a half-man, half-god hero who spends his days beating the tar out of evil centaurs and mythological freaks. But Kevin Sorbo, the beefy star of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, says his formative years had a soundtrack that was downright mellow: Bob Seger's 1978 chart-topper Stranger in Town. Below, Sorbo gets metaphysical about the healing power of the classic-rock staple.
''Stranger in Town got me through high school and college, I think. I've always been sort of in touch with that desire to understand everything about everything. Whether it's relationships or why we're here. Bob Seger...it was just a wonderful album in terms of touching on those issues. [One song]'The Famous Final Scene,' deals with life and the reality of finally understanding what everything's all about, but maybe [a little] too late. It's that old adage of, 'If I only knew then what I know now.'''
