Anita Cochran is a tomboy who picks guitar and mandolin leads nearly as well as her top-notch sidemen in Back to You. Schooled in both modern and old-style sounds, she writes like a pro, hitting her stride when blending Vince Gill-like instrumentals with Wynonna-gone-hillbilly vocals. But because she sometimes holds back, this debut only hints at her maturing talents. B+
