England's Beth Orton (who lent her disarmingly tender voice to the Chemical Brothers' two albums) pioneers a new genre — ambient folk — on her potent debut, Trailer Park. Orton swings engagingly from despair to resolve, supported by slurred synthesizers and trembling acoustic guitars. On one track, she implores: ''I want to shout about it/But I keep quiet about it.''
