Details Lead Performance: Radish

More tuneful than his prepubescent brethren, Radish's Ben Kweller, 15, writes crunchy guitar pop best classified as Weezer Jr. When the songs reflect teen concerns Kweller is charming, but there's a hollowness in his attempts at alt-rock ennui. He has the moves in Restraining Bolt, but the emotion is beyond him. Kweller is undeniably talented; it's too bad he made an album before he was old enough to shave. B-
